Nineteen of the Russian's 21 victories have been achieved on hard surfaces

A revitalized Daniil Medvedev secured his initial trophy for 882 days with a win over Corentin Moutet in the competition title decider.

Medvedev, a ex- world number one, has had a challenging season, winning just one win at the major tournaments and undergoing a meltdown at the US Open.

Medvedev's unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his serving in specific - led to him dropping out of the world's top 10 and eventually splitting with long-term mentor Cervara.

Presently working with Johansson and Goetzke, he has gradually improved in the last few weeks - climaxing in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over challenger Corentin Moutet.

This marks the player's initial title after the Rome competition and maiden on a hard surface after that period of 2023.

The win also means he has achieved 21 championships at 21 different competitions.

"This marks the first occasion I'm at a competition with my two daughters together, so to get a title is especially meaningful," stated tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.

"This title is in honour of my second daughter my daughter, because the maiden victory I got when my first daughter her name was born was for her."

The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his previous six title deciders, featuring in Halle earlier this year.

Medvedev's retrieving approach and recurring reactions on court had caused observers to wonder if his ability to compete at the highest level was concluded.

But the athlete has altered his approach in the last few weeks, striving to come to the net and compete aggressively, supported by an enhanced serve.

The champion fought back from a break down in the initial set against the challenging Moutet, securing four of the concluding five games to gain the advantage.

Both players traded break points in the middle set before the Frenchman, attempting for his first tour championship, took control to push for a third set.

He rescued 4 initial chances in a competitive final set before Medvedev broke to fifteen to serve for the match.

Appropriately, he clinched victory with a point at the net, with Moutet unable to manage a volley after a lengthy match.
